Project Saksham is more than a legal aid project—it’s a movement for justice. Our mission is to create a legally aware society where everyone, regardless of their background, has access to the knowledge and resources they need to protect their rights. Here’s how we work:
Our volunteers, consisting of law students and professionals, engage with communities in slum areas to understand their specific legal challenges. We build trust within these communities, providing a safe space for individuals to voice their legal concerns and seek support. Through door-to-door campaigns and interactive sessions, we aim to identify legal issues that residents face, such as domestic violence, labor rights violations, housing disputes, and more.
Knowledge is power, and our workshops and awareness sessions focus on educating individuals about their legal rights and responsibilities. We conduct regular educational events covering various topics, including women's rights, children's rights, labor laws, property disputes, and procedures for accessing government schemes and services. Our sessions are tailored to be interactive, informative, and accessible, ensuring that even those without a legal background can understand and utilize the information provided.
In partnership with a network of pro bono lawyers, Project Saksham provides free legal assistance to individuals who cannot afford legal representation. Volunteers collect information on legal issues from the community, document cases, and work closely with legal professionals to offer guidance and representation. We ensure that legal aid is not only available but also reliable, ethical, and effective, guaranteeing that justice reaches the most marginalized sections of society.
Project Saksham collaborates with other organizations, government bodies, and NGOs to create a holistic approach to legal aid. We work to connect our beneficiaries with additional resources and support, such as mental health services, shelters for domestic abuse victims, and employment assistance programs.
